Founded in 2012, we’re a craft microbrewery located in a historic 100-year-old bakery called The Bread Box on West 6th Street in Lexington, Kentucky. We brew and can our beer out of that location, and it’s sold at bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and liquor stores throughout the state of Kentucky (and across the river in Cincinnati, OH). We pride ourselves on the beers that we make and the impact we have on the communities we’re a part of.Put West Sixth Brewing into our Lexington travel route planning tool to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Lexington.
We focus our brewing talents on a wide variety of beers – we produce and can styles ranging from our flagship West Sixth IPA, to our Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter. In our taprooms in downtown Lexington, we have 15-20 West Sixth varieties on tap, along with occasional special bottle releases from our Sixfold and Barrel-aged series. Now a team of more than 40, we focus on brewing beers with quality and creativity that we’re proud to serve to our friends, and most importantly, that we like to drink!
That said, we measure our success as a company not just on the beer that we make, but also on our social impact in the communities we’re a part of. We support the direct work of nonprofits in our area through programs like our Pay it Forward program and 6th for a Cause. We are environmentally conscious in everything we do (did you know nationwide, 70% of aluminum is recycled and only 20% of glass is?). And finally, we strive to be an awesome place to work, offering discounted CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) benefits, private staff yoga classes, and employee ownership.

Visited during our self-guided Lexington brewery tour! Sat outside on a beautiful day and had a flight and pint. Ordered food from the adjacent restaurant - I had the most amazing cod sandwich...

Over the years I have been a regular at several establishments and I have traveled enough to be a one time or occasional patron at hundreds of bars across the country. First, the beer is great. They have a wide variety of solid old faithful recipes, but they also are not afraid to push the envelope. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly (depending on your perspective) If you are in town, I highly recommend spending some time in their taproom. I have visited Lexington, Kentucky to see my wife's family at minimum two to three times a year since 2015. During every visit, I have made a point of stopping at West Sixth. In the dozen or so visits to the brewery I have had a delightful experience every single time. Whether on my own working remotely from their bar or with my wife or in-laws, the taproom staff has been knowledgeable and struck up easy conversation as if I were a regular. The above is the mark of not only a great brewery, but a great institution.

The bartenders are friendly and fun, beers are varied and tasty, and the food is ok. Place is very family friendly and it is awesome to sit outside with your pet and enjoy the say with a cold drink. The food is pretty decent, but they always seems to have some sort of problem in the kitchen. Very inconsistent. And the food runner doesn't seem to speak more than 1 word at a time.
