Dorothy’s House was built in 1907 and donated to the Seward County Historical Society. Volunteers moved the house to its present location on the grounds. It has been carefully restored and furnished to replicate the house shown in the 1939 movie “Wizard of OZ,” reproducing the warmth of the farmhouse where Dorothy realized that, “There’s no place like home.” Former Kansas governor John Carlin recognized the house as the official home of Dorothy Gale in 1981.

The Land of OZ is a 5,000 square foot animated “Land of Oz” where Dorothy will guide you through her adventure while meeting Munchkins, a Scarecrow, Tin Man, a Cowardly Lion, and trying to avoid a Wicked Witch.

Join Dorothy today to experience a guided tour of Dorothy’s House and the Land of Oz, where you will see unique memorabilia, including the actual model of the home that was used in the tornado scene in the 1939 movie. We look forward to seeing you!

  • Fun and interactive experience for children that enjoy the wizard of Oz. The girl that did the tour did a fantastic job. The whole experience takes about 45 minutes.

  • It was a fun little experience. $12.50 for an adult ticket to take the tour through the house and “land of OZ”. The Dorothy’s really take pride in their jobs and it’s a fun little roadside attraction. The museum at the end with collectibles over the year are fun to look at. The gift shop was reasonably priced. Overall, it was a fun way to kill some time while in town.
  • In all honesty, I did not go take the tour of Dorothy's House and the warehouse with the Land of Oz behind. It's a 45 minute tour and I didn't quite have time (or interest) for that. But I did really enjoy the free local history museum next door! It's in an old house and it was fun to walk around. The Wizard of Oz gift shop is a real gem too - high quality stuff, every Oz item you could think of, from ruby slippers to stuffed totos to some very nice books. Absolutely a side-of-the-road attraction, but if you're nearby, you should stop in. And if you're an Oz fan, definitely take the tour! I bet it's fun. There is a great (and modern) playground, so it's a good place for kids on a road trip to let off some steam. There are bathrooms in the history museum.
