Hop on a or guided tram tour through the woodlands, wetlands, and prairie of Morton Arboretum. Find your way out of the maze garden, cross tree bridges, and hike, bike, or walk one of the trails. Explore the children’s garden and the village of tree houses, while you admire the plants, flowers, and trees in the arboretum. Peruse the nature-inspired artisan-designed items in the gift shop, wander around the exhibit in the visitor center, and enjoy a meal in the arboretum restaurant. Good place for outdoor experiences. Sadly, as the daylight dims earlier, The Morton Arboretum closes earlier as a result. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. And are there to help people as much as to protect it's grounds in service to a larger, much more grand plan. While the staff there all have different experiences, backgrounds and roles, they all can answer any of your questions with some depth and quite a bit if passion. And while one person is more greatly experienced in wetlands or prairies, that can still provide good answers to whatever questions you may have. The level of expertise the staff has regarding preservation and conservation extends well beyond their own grounds. The Morton Arboretum participates and collaborates with The Global Tree Conservation Program, the Chicago Regional Tree Initiative, the North American Botanical Garden Strategy. It's much more than a stroll through the woods or a walk amongst the parks. The Morton Arboretum is science in the making. Go ahead, ask a scientist. You'll both have fun! And ya might learn something while you're at it - which is the best if it.

Beautiful place, well maintained, the children's garden is awesome for kids. There are 2 levels, lower one for toddlers, and the upper area is for older kids. They learn about nature through play which is great. We got to see the Human+Nature exhibition by Daniel Popper which was incredible. A good thing is that you can either walk, hike, or drive through the entire arboretum and see different species of trees and plants. We spent the whole day there and definitely plan to be back in the fall.
