La Purisima State Historical Park, Lompoc

4.7
Explore the cultural heritage of California at La Purisima State Historical Park. The park covers an area of 1220 sq km (470 sq mi) and represents what used to be the home of the Chumash people, as well as Spanish settlers. Hike around the park and discover original buildings from 1820s, or watch for livestock that lives there today. You can see the reconstruction of life from that period, with pottery and candle making, weaving, and blacksmithing on site. • Probably my favorite of all the missions. Very nicely restored and beautiful, quiet grounds with scenic countryside all around. They have kept it quite authentic. You really get a feel for how people lived back then. Highly recommend.
  • A beautiful area with interesting exhibits showing a piece of history. Mostly quiet and they do offer tours. The trails get really muddy when it rains so bring shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. The gift shop has some nice items and is pretty cheap.
