Alabama Hills, Lone Pine

4.9
#1 of 9 in Things to do in Lone Pine
With their stark and rugged beauty, Alabama Hills quintessentially represent the Wild West--so much so that a number of cowboy television shows and movies have been filmed here. These hills constitute part of the Sierra Nevada, though they are much more rounded and not quite as high as most of the range's peaks. Hike or climb the impressive formations to discover colorful wildflowers and surreal natural arches. Be sure to bring your camera and wear sensible walking gear. • We went there one morning on weekdays, we felt lonely in the world in this truly extraordinary setting, which served so many movies/series, it was magical. We explored and enjoyed ourselves. The site is clean (in France we always have tags everywhere). Really to do. It's free and there are so many pictures to make.
