Located within the Chattanooga National Military Park, Point Park - Lookout Mountain Battlefields commemorates the Civil War battle fought on top of Lookout Mountain in 1863, commonly referred to as the "Battle Above the Clouds." Hike or drive to the top of the mountain to see how the battle earned its name and enjoy great views of downtown Chattanooga and its surroundings. Check out the cannons dispersed throughout the park, or stop by the small museum for a summary of the battle and to view some Civil War-era photographs.   • We stopped at the park to stretch our legs on our way into Chattanooga. We were pleasantly surprised how nice the park was, we also learned a bit about Chattanoogas role in the civil war  more »
  • There are some scenic lookout points along the trail, good for pictures. We didn’t take a tour, so we didn’t learn anything. It is a nice place to stop and stretch your legs after being in the car.  more »
