I recommend hiking this trail before heading over to the primary Bandelier site. It's a lot of fun climbing and walking thru the areas without a lot of people around (esp in Nov). Kids can hike this..... more

This is a beautiful 1.6 mile hike that loops. The trail app we used said it was "easy" so I strapped on our 1 yr old loaded up our other daughter and we headed out! First the good, it's beautiful and there is so much history to see in this one spot. I highly recommend you get a trail guide at the place where you buy your ticket. It explains all of the historic spots along the train. There really is so much to see. Now this is not easy with small children, while the path is clear there are some seriously tight and high spots with a death defying (per my daughter) ladder at one of the highest points. Truly a feat to persevere. Overall we loved it because we survived but be prepared. Total took us just under 3 hours with the kiddos and a short lunch at the top.

DO NOT WEAR YOUR EXPENSIVE LEGGINGS!! You will be touching/rubbing against all kinds of rocks and you will ruin them. I got lucky and it was so cold I was wearing hiking pants over my leggings,I would've been bummed if they were ruined. Such a good hike! We stopped on a whim and wow, so impressed with the hike and views. The petroglyphs were meh, not sure that they are even genuine. 100% worth a stop!
