Hollywood Sign, Los Angeles

3.9
Overlooking the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, Hollywood Sign is an icon of popular culture in the United States. You'll recognize this sign from its many appearances in movies set in and around Hollywood. Although it often denotes the excitement of the Golden Era of Hollywood, the sign actually stands on the spot where starlet Peg Entwistle died in 1932. To see the most famous view of the sign from below, look up from Hollywood Boulevard. Make your Los Angeles itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.

  • The best spot is at the Mall on the Walk of Fame road --- IF you are not one to hike or drive the winding hill roads. I had my mother with me and she has to walk with a cane so our best bet was at the...  more »

  • It really is cool and you got to go see it because it’s just part of the fabric of the city and there are many places to see us including the Chinese theatre and the Griffith Observatory  more »

  • it's a 2 mile round trip hike and a great place to jog from the dog park. During the summer you may need to start real early cause this place will get hot. The payoff is getting to the top behind the Hollywood sign. Stay on the main street, do not take shortcuts up to the sign cause alarms will go off. Enjoy the view at 6am!
  • I walked close to the sign, no matter to me if some one says it’s only a sign, it’s a Hollywood sign which means a lot. It means that you visited California, specially Los angles , you drove your car up the mountain and claimed to be close to the sign. Once you got there, you would be able to take amazing look to the city. It was the best time to me when I got close to the sign and waited till it get dark and enjoy the perfect view of Los Angles. The bad side of the place is the parking spot. They were free not too long ago but last January when I went there, they added parking machine so you have to pay, which is not big deal for such amazing place.
  • The Observation area was very nice. Parking is $8 per hour, I recommend to follow the traffic up to the top of the hill as there are several cars that leave while the signs say parking is full. If you park at the bottom of the hill plan on a mile hike up hill, the facility is nice, obviously very busy and crowded but a great tourist attraction
  • This is one of the things you just have to do if you go to California. It's not that it is anything fun like an amusement park but you can definitely make it fun. The drive through the Hollywood Hills was pretty cool. Tight fit. I recommend driving as high up as possible.
  • WHAT A FUN HIKE! Definitely put on sunscreen because it's not a shady trail. There are plenty of people so you won't get lost and there are signs along the way. There are different view points. I went to the top, behind the sign. There was a very nice breeze up there. There are people on horses as well which I thought was really cool.
