I have been to many maritime museums and this one is really interesting, though small. For a museum that doesn't actually have any ships, just models and displays, it is set up nicely and has a lot.... more »

Wonderful museum, a must stop for anyone interested in ships and maritime history. They have a large model ship collection as well as interesting exhibits on early Los Angeles Harbor history. Child and Family friendly.

This is a smaller museum filled with ship models from different eras and industries. It also has historical images of the early days of the area, tools used by fishermen and sailors, and more. They have a dedicated section for naval ships, including large detailed models of modern and WW2 era ships. It was under renovation when we visited so not all are displayed properly. You can find parts of USS Los Angeles (CA-135) inside & outside the museum. There's a small dock outside with public access where you can relax and maybe find some adorable seals sleeping nearby. The $5 entrance fee is worth it for visitors of all ages.
