The population was 2,412 at the 2010 census, up from 1,938 at the 2000 census. The enormous Lost Hills Oil Field, which is sixth largest by remaining reserves in California, is west and northwest of town, extending about 10mi along the range of the low Lost Hills Range, which the town was named after.According to the United States Census Bureau, Lost Hills has a total area of 5.6sqmi, of which, over 99% of it is land and 0.21% is water.ClimateAccording to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Lost Hills has a semi-arid climate, abbreviated "BSk" on climate maps.
