While the convention center does not have a permanent arena, it still has hosted various sporting events, including the 2002 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament and the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament from 1995 to 2000. It also hosted select University of Louisville women's basketball games from the 1989–90 season through 1992–93, and again in the 1994–95, 2000–01, and 2008–09 seasons. One of the exhibit halls was temporarily turned into an arena, with seats for about 7,000.
This facility is not to be confused with the Louisville Gardens which was called the Convention Center or the Louisville Convention Center in the 1960s and 1970s until the Kentucky International Convention Center was being built in 1975 when the Louisville Gardens received its current name.
Kentucky International Convention Center reviews
Major wifi problems in audition room. Food seriously overpriced if you're stuck in an expo all day. But it's very nice and a good place to have a big convention! more »
I came here for GalaxyCon. This is a good convention facility for this type of event. I was also here years ago for my stepdaughter's graduation from U of L. Convenient to downtown restaurants and... more »
Was here for a convention over the course of 3 days. Great facility and awesome food. Staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the area. Restrooms were well kept and the center was extremely clean throughout. Used many tyles of meeting rooms with different types of media and all were great and had no issues. Would love to come back again!
Very nice decor, friendly and helpful staff. The decor and views in the halways are very attractive. It makes walking through the place to get to your con/exposition very pleasant. I was greeted with a smile and a kind "Hello, what are you here for today?" I answered and was given a quick precise set of directions in the most convenient way to get where I was headed. The event hall was well lit and spacious although not as well decorated. Which is probably just as well so as not to distract from the displays. All things considered it was a fine venue for a fun convention.
