Established in 1927, with Grand Opening taking place on Sept. 1, 1928.
For years the heart of Louisville's downtown commercial district was Fourth Street and showcasing entertainment like shopping, dining and theatre houses like the Rialto, the Kentucky, the Ohio, and the most beautiful, built in 1927--The Louisville Palace. As one of only two theatres to survive urban renewal, The Louisville Palace is a treasure to generations of Louisvillians. Today, The Louisville Palace hosts intimate concert experiences with grammy award-winning artists like Sting, James Taylor and Alison Krauss as well as private events with our incredible jaw-dropping décor. Although the façade is dynamic in appearance, it doesn't provide a clue as to the immensity and spectacular design of the interior of the theatre. Upon entering the lobby and the grand foyer, the Spanish Baroque motif begins. Cobalt blue, bursts of red and gold indirectly lights all of the niches, coves and entrances.
