One of the most popular state parks in Michigan, Ludington State Park beckons visitors for fishing, hiking, camping, and swimming in Lake Michigan. The park's 2,100 hectares (5,300 acres) encompass many ecosystems including forests, sand dunes, beaches, a dam, a river, and the lake. Visit the nature center for information on the park and recent wildlife sightings. Take a short walk along the beach to visit Big Sable Point Lighthouse, which dates to 1876 and stands 34 m (112 ft) tall. You can get out on the water by renting a boat on Hamlin Lake, or enjoy swimming in this man-made lake created by the Hamlin Lake Dam. • Ludington State Park is a great place to hike and swim. It has two great beaches, one on Lake Hamlin and another on Lake Michigan. We love the walk from Lake Hamlin to Lake Michigan.

  • It's all about location location location! Great spot for camping if you like to be active when you camp. Lots and lots of trails in addition to beach access. The campground itself is well maintained and the site are decently sized but there is very, very, VERY little privacy which is why I can only give 4 stars. It does look like they've been planting trees so hopefully that will give future campers more private sites.
  • Awesome! Haven't been there since I kid. It was very nice to revisit and walk the beach. 4' rollers coming in 50' out.... Just awesome! šŸ˜
