Madison Children's Museum, Madison

Madison Children's Museum is the area's premier destination for hands-on fun and learning for the whole family!

We have six exhibit areas: the Rowland Rooftop Ramble, a four-season green roof with animals and gardens; the Wildernest, a global village made with natural, local materials and designed for ages 5 and under; the Bakke Art Studio, where visitors can do a daily drop-in project and paint on windows; the authentic Brand Log Cabin to teach visitors about Madison's pioneer days; our newest exhibit From Coops to Cathedrals Nature, Childhood, and the Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright where kids can tinker, play, draw inspiration from nature, and explore just like the famous local architect did; and the DeAtley Community Concourse, a free-admission area with several exhibits and a pizza cafe.

The museum also offers special programs and events daily; view our website calendar to plan your visit.

  • The museum is great for children! My son had so much fun, he could of stayed all day! However the cafe is terrible! Bring your own food to eat lunch. It wasn't expensive, but the quality was terrible.  more »

  • What a wonderful museum! We could have spent days playing in the art room on the second floor. The rooftop garden and greenhouse was a blast - I wish we had allotted more time to spend up there. The staff was so amazing, polite and eager to please. They took animals out for my kids to touch and taught us all a little bit about them.
  • Super fun place! Great climbing thing, a lot of fun art and tactile stuff. Recently took our 4 year old and 1 year old, and it's hard to say which one had a better time! Don't forget the garden on the roof!
