Madison Children's Museum, Madison

Madison Children's Museum is the area's premier destination for hands-on fun and learning for the whole family!

We have six exhibit areas: the Rowland Rooftop Ramble, a four-season green roof with animals and gardens; the Wildernest, a global village made with natural, local materials and designed for ages 5 and under; the Bakke Art Studio, where visitors can do a daily drop-in project and paint on windows; the authentic Brand Log Cabin to teach visitors about Madison's pioneer days; our newest exhibit From Coops to Cathedrals Nature, Childhood, and the Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright where kids can tinker, play, draw inspiration from nature, and explore just like the famous local architect did; and the DeAtley Community Concourse, a free-admission area with several exhibits and a pizza cafe.

The museum also offers special programs and events daily; view our website calendar to plan your visit.

  • This was only our second visit to the Madison Children's Museum, but it was such a blast that we will definitely be back. The free program for new kids is great too!  more »

  • The Children's museum is pretty awesome for families with kids from about 2-8 plus or minus. Many activities to keep the kids entertained and curious for hours. One visit won't be enough. Best to get the membership and visit a lot. Patrons are mostly a considerate and respectful bunch. Highly recommended.
  • Pretty great museum. It's better when the weather is nice so there is a little bit more to do. It does get very hot in the building, but there's a lot of energy and bodies so that is to be expected. Lots of fun.
