  • We got a map of the wildlife drive from the website. It was pretty easy to find. The gravel road was pretty good. As usual the best way to spot wildlife is to look for another car stopped along...

  • Very desolate place so definitely stay on the main gravel roads. Very cool refuge. We didn’t see anything but a Bald Eagle. However it’s suggested that you go in the early morning or at dusk. Overall a cool drive and huge refuge.
  • Easy access from Nags head! Saw one black bear at a distance and an owl up close! We drove the portion leading to route 64 and probably took us about 30-45 mins taking our time. No gators in sight and honestly the grass is so high you can’t really see the water while driving.
