The powerful waves of Honolua Bay are known worldwide for providing fantastic surfing conditions in winter. You can take lessons as a beginner, but the waves can be dangerous, so follow safety guidelines. With a small, rocky shore, the bay isn't ideal for sunbathing, but when the surf is calm, you can try your hand at snorkeling and scuba diving. As part of the Mokulei Marine Life Conservation District, this protected area is home to many fish and coral reefs. Hike up to the top of the bluffs for views of the bay from above and to watch the surfing pros in action.
