Lafayette Blue Springs State Park, Mayo

Quiet, small state park perfect for a leisurely picnic. We knew the swimming was closed due to high water in the Suwannee River but decided to check it out anyway. Lots of picnic tables with grills and 2 covered shelters between the parking lot and swimming area. A short, paved, interpretive trail allows everyone to enjoy the spring and learn a little about Florida’s springs. A 1/2 mile trail around 3 sinks gives a close up look at different types of sinkholes that exist in Florida. Looks like a cool place to revisit when the river goes back to normal.

Very cool place and crazy spring! Also very small park with no restrictions on who walks or drives through that gate. No staff will be seen. Cabins were awesome though!
