  • After hiking up 2 miles through a verdant forest of pines, firs, spruces, and cedars, I found that I underestimated the scope and beauty of Cedar Creek Falls. They are fantastic! Next to the trail I heard the thunder and saw the mist. When I went over for a better look I discovered that the falls pour through a deep box canyon with trees precariously hanging on to the sides. The middle falls froth into a punchbowl. The upper falls stairstep down graceful cascades. The lower and biggest falls plunge over a sheer cliff about 70 feet. Although beautiful, the edges are steep and dangerous. I would not bring little kids. I also ran into a non-threatening bear a ways up the trail.
