  • This is an awesome place. Trade Days are the best. Lots of vendors. Bring your own snacks though as food is limited, expensive & not very good. I still give 5 stars because the place is run by excellence. Park workers are helpful and friendly. We have camped there, stayed in the primitive cabins, lodges and signed to sell out of a booth on a few trade days. There can be 10-15k people come through on show weekends and March & October are the busiest. If you are coming to shop, come early Sat for the best TD experience. Many vendors leave Sat evening but Sunday can still have a good selection if the weather holds up. My husband and I like to stay the Monday after each trade day to enjoy hiking, swimming, and etc., as it clears out on Sunday afternoon. Friendly environment. No noise or trouble that I've ever seen and I've been going for more than 40 years now. The grounds are extraordinary.
  • Clean and fun filled state park. The museum is interactive for children but still contains a lot of details on the history and process of making pig iron. A scavenger hunt also keeps the kids entertained while walking around. The grist mill is a great place for pictures. The easy trails are basically dirt roads and extremely doable for children.
