ReCreation Land is a 60,000-acre outdoor recreation area built on land once strip mined for its rich coal deposits. AEP has received many awards for this project from environmental and conservation groups for going above and beyond the legal requirements for land reclamation. ReCreation Land offers a number of outdoor recreational activities and is free to the public.

Although the area is free to access, you still need need a permit when you visit. You can print off a PDF from our website or go to various area locations to pick one up.
