Great Falls Park covers 324 hectares (800 acres) of protected land along the Potomac River. This national park offers 24 km (15 mi) of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, as well as a designated picnic area where you can enjoy quiet time in nature. It’s just a short walk to the Great Falls to watch the Potomac River cascade over the edge and into the Mather Gorge. Experienced white-water rafters will enjoy the power of the Potomac, and climbers can try their skills in the designated climbing sites. This is an incredible set of waterfalls. The day we were there was very cold but it was still incredible. So glad we got the chance to visit these falls.

I recently started hiking every weekend, and as a bigger person, finding easy to moderate hikes that I can still manage is always a priority. I think that this park fits the bill. It has amazing views at the three overlooks, where you can fully see the falls, although they do tend to get crowded. I took the river trail and the old carriage road back up to the parking, and the river trail had a nice variety of rocks to clamber up, but coming back through the gravel carriage road was definitely less interesting. Parking is $20 per car I believe, and If you can make it there early, it's much less crowded and definitely more enjoyable. Happy hiking!

Hand an amazing experience there. The falls in itself is gorgeous. You get three lookout out points and I felt the third one is the best . Numerous cascades and steep slopes add beauty to the falls. There are lots of steep rocks so Just be careful while moving up and down the lookout points. The park was amazing and we sat for a while and had lunch there. Restroom was available!
