The Medina Railroad Museum is a railroad museum located at 530 West Avenue in Medina, New York, which is northeast of Buffalo and northwest of Rochester.

The museum is housed in one of the largest standing wooden freight depots, built in 1905. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Its exhibits feature interactive displays, 6000 artifacts, memorabilia, photos, toys and a model railroad, all relating to the railroads of western New York. It also includes a collection of historic fire fighting equipment.

The museum sponsors passenger excursion train trips on a seasonal schedule between Medina and Lockport - as well as hosting an annual (May) Thomas the Tank Engine, Day Out with Thomas events.
In 1997 the boundaries of the village's Main Street Historic District were redrawn to include the building as a contributing property after research established that it was related to other buildings in that district.

  • I had a great time. If you are interested in railroad historic artifacts, this is the place to go. They also have firefighter and military items. The model train layout is huge. I walked around it four times and found something new that I hadn't seen earlier. I'll be going back again and maybe riding a train if they are running.
  • Wow this place is amazing! Went for A Day with Thomas with my 2 year old granddaughter and we had a blast! I cannot WAIT to go this summer with my 7 year old grandson from Ohio. He will love it! The museum is huge. There are numerous HO and N gauge running tracks set up to watch. There are interactive track sections where little kids can press of door bell type button and operate a train. And the HO set....what??? 4400 feet of track???? And then for the adults - tons of museum quality memorabilia. Stuff you haven't seen in decades. Go here. Take your kids. Take your parents and grandparents. There's something for everyone!
