Elvis Presley recorded his first song at Sun Studio, arguably the birthplace of rock and roll. Country music, blues, R&B, and rockabilly artists recorded here throughout the 1950s, with the most notable names including Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and B.B. King. Stop by to take a guided tour of the studio's headquarters and see equipment used to record some of the best-known hits in American music history. Highlights include Elvis Presley's microphone, used during a recording session in 1954. Located right in the downtown area, the studio is easily accessible from anywhere in town, with frequent shuttle buses running between this location and other notable music venues in and around Memphis. • We had an awesome visit and actually ran into actress Jennifer Tilly while there. The history and tour was worth it.

  • Amazing tour! The tour guide, Lydia, was super knowledgeable and had a super vibe to share her passion and the history of this studio. We didn't wait much, but the tours are every hour 12.30pm, 1.30pm etc). So be sure to buy it in advance or to arrive a bit earlier to get your spot. The tour includes the upstairs, some kind of museum, Marion's office and the studio. Impressive tour as you'll be able to be in the same room as all the rock and roll legends
  • Absolutely brilliant! Visiting the birthplace of Rock n' Roll was the realization of a boyhood dream. This place is full of joy and soul! The staff are genuine fans who love this wonderful place and the music it made, and they love their fellow fans too. Unbelievably only $12 for admission and a brilliant guided tour. Absolutely, do tip your guide! I can't wait to return!
