Our eco-friendly and pet-enthusiastic store is located at the mouth of Mendocino's majestic Big River. Big River is situated in a stunning basin, flanked by coastal redwoods and teaming with wildlife. We provide a variety of redwood-hewn canoes, ranging in size to accommodate anywhere from one to nine paddlers. In addition, our staff offers several unique guided tours of Big River. We rented two bikes from Catch a Canoe and had an excellent time riding through the trail across the river. It's a beautiful ride through the woods, along the river; we saw two seals! The bikes were..... more »
A great canoeing trip and excellent family outing! Make sure to bring a camera as you are likely to see lots of wildlife. We saw otters, eagles and seals.
The bikes are in excellent shape. The bike trail is long and monotone, except the nice vista view s to the Big River. The canoe is great but the water up close is not as pretty as when viewed from the bike trail. We saw a harbor seal and got as close as 20 feet. He is as cute as a puppy! But there was only one.
