Menemsha Public Beach, Menemsha

#2 of 12 in Beaches in Martha's Vineyard
Must see · Beach · Nature / Park
Set within a charming fishing village, Menemsha Public Beach offers some of the best things on the island: seafood, gentle surf, and sunsets. The pebbly beach can be a little hard on tender feet, but the uncrowded atmosphere and serene vistas at this beach make it a perennial favorite. Try the clams at the New England clam shack, or head to one of the other nearby restaurants for other seafood dishes, including lobster and oysters. The vistas from this north-facing spot include the Elizabeth Islands and Cuttyhunk, and word has it this is the best sunset in town. Limited parking ensures plenty of beach space for visitors. • With storm clouds on the horizon, we thought our desire for a nice sunset was not to happen. Suddenly the pink/red rays burst from behind the cloud for a most amazing show.  more »
  • This is a great up-island beach! Lots of parking, lots of sand and surf. A couple of restaurants within walking distance for lunch. A great stop!  more »
  • Quiet beach on the edge of town with calm water and island views. Get there a bit before sunset, grab some seafood at one of the fish markets and enjoy dinner on the beach.
  • Watching the sun setting here is an AMAZING experience ! !
