Sams House at Pine Island Conservation Area reviews
This is a hidden gem! Wanted something different to do. It’s free and has lots of flat hiking. Bring bug spray and some water. It’s not strenuous but it’s about an hour. Very pretty.

The mosquitos are really bad this time of year. Not their fault and they even had bug spray available. Was a quick visit but fun.
Wow! What a hidden gem! Very cool historical home with lots of interactive exhibits. They also have a small gift shop with some cool items as well as free brochures to other area museums and natural areas. They have a large picnic area with a screened house to protect you from mosquitoes. There is a very cool exhibit in the woods which shows how people lived thousands of years ago and the wildlife that lived here many thousands of years ago. This part of the park has paved walkways and is easy to get around even for those in wheelchairs or who use assistive devices. There's an extensive trail system. The hiking trails are very well maintained. There are sections where you will have to watch out for alligators. The trails can sometimes be muddy so wear appropriate footwear that you don't care if it gets dirty. It's a great idea to wear bug spray and sunscreen because much of the habitat goes through swamps and shaded areas with slow moving water; the sunscreen is needed if you are going to be hiking along the dike around Pine Island which is full sun most of the way. Bring a bottle of water and you are good to go! Please like this review if you find it helpful.
