Powderhorn Mountain Resort is located 45 minutes east of Grand Junction, Colorado on the Grand Mesa. The area has a variety of ski terrain such as groomers, bumps, glades, and boulder fields. Powderhorn is unique among Colorado ski resorts because of its terrain and climate. Powderhorn sits on the side of one of the world's largest flattop mountains, or mesas, rather than in a mountain canyon as many ski areas do, which allows for views extending more than 20mi across the desert below. The climate at Powderhorn's high desert location—east of Grand Junction, Colorado and slightly north and east of Colorado National Monument—produces dry, powder snow. The Rocky Mountain News said,"Powderhorn makes up for a lack of vertical with two quality terrain parks," and noted Powderhorn's "Old West feel" and focus on "families, beginner and intermediate skiers." Powderhorn has a wide variety of terrain with a few long groomed runs as well as steeper tree runs and boulder fields full of jumps and cliffs.

  • We went for a quick ski trip with my daughter and Dustin was incredibly helpful getting us set up with gear. Thanks for making our trip so great!  more »
  • Powderhorn is so damn good. The grooming is on point, the glades are perfectly spaced, and the lift lines are non-existent. I ride all over Colorado and Powderhorn still holds the spark that makes...  more »

  • Great staying in our condo rental on the property. Walking to the lift is great. Crowds are small and lines are short. Parking near our rental in the general lot is very convenient. We cannot get enough of our skiing here; wish there were a few more choices for food and drinks in the area but do not want more people around so...
  • This place is amazing. The ski school staff is outstanding! They truly care about making sure that the kids in their classes have fun and learn. Very impressive staff and facilities. Plus the lift attendants are pretty rad!
