  • I have an affinity for Texas State Parks in general, but especially for Fort Parker. I camped there many times as a child and now take my husband and kids there. We have also been there with church...

  • Our large family from across Texas held a reunion there this summer. We were all pleased with the group facilities (dining hall, kitchen, A/C, bathrooms), park grounds, etc. We used the barracks...

  • A jewel of a park in a quiet part of Texas. Beautiful lake views, miles of trails for hiking and biking, and absolutely overflowing with history. The area is also full of wildlife on and off the water. Make sure you bring a fishing pole and some binoculars. I'd highly recommend kayaking here as well. RV pads are dated and rather uneven so bring your leveling blocks. However, the views from most of the spots are stunning, especially at dawn and dusk. Most of the spots are rather short so double check how much space you need for your site. There's plenty of overflow parking as well. Mexia is close by for food, fuel, and additional activities. Lake dam is a short drive from the park headquarters. We will return here again just for the view.
  • Great little park! The lake is huge and access to the Navasota River is easy. We had so much fun camping, hiking, and paddling! Plus, the kids really enjoyed learning about Cynthia Anne Parker.
