  • I love the Mound! My family has been doing our family reunions there for over 30 years and hopefully we have no intentions of stopping. It's got a great location and the scenery is beautiful. Bathrooms are fairly close to the shelter and it has two playgrounds for children to play on. The mound is actually an old Indian burial ground. I haven't seen it done in a long time but I remember as a child every so often we would see a group of Indians walk circles around the base of the mound playing instruments in singing. It was a really cool experience to witness.
  • According to the Ohio History Connection website, “Miamisburg Mound is one of the two largest conical mounds in eastern North America. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the mound is 65 feet tall and 800 feet in circumference and contains 54,000 cubic yards of earth. The mound is visible from several miles away because it stands atop a 100 foot high ridge above the Great Miami River. Steps have been built to the top observation platform, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the area.” Given its height, there is a beautiful sweeping view of the surrounding area. The signage was informative and the park well maintained. There is a playground and picnic shelter at the park.
