  • The light house is amazing and the history packed light keepers house is fun and interactive. My kids liked pressing the buttons on displays to see the lights light up. My older son like the big touch screen with the history of the light house. I loved how it was free and had interesting places near by to walked to. Cute gift shop was cash only. It was a great place to end our beach day.
  • Sandy Hook Lighthouse is the oldest working lighthouse in New Jersey and has been aiding ships entering the New York Harbor since 1764. The lighthouse is on the grounds of Fort Hancock. You have to sign up with the tour guide to enter the lighthouse and you need to wear a mask. It has 95 steps on a narrow spiral staircase with a 9 rung ladder at the top. My pictures were taken through the glass windows at the top of the lighthouse, but there was a baby gate blocking an opening that I was able to get some unobstructed photos. It was so beautiful looking out at the views from the top of the lighthouse.
