Sited on the hills overlooking the Delaware River, Grey Towers National Historic Site is the former family home of Gifford Pinchot, twice elected governor of Pennsylvania. The three-story mansion with conical roofed towers was built to resemble a French chateau and evokes the Pinchot family's French origins. A guided tour of the interior provides insights into the private life of the governor, while a self-guided stroll along the interpretive trails offers a chance to spot bluebirds nesting in the woods. The site also features other buildings, including several cottages, an open-air theater, and an outdoor dining area named the Finger Bowl. With our custom trip planner, Milford attractions like Grey Towers National Historic Site can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • The tour inside the house was a look into the past. Amazing photos, books, decor and furniture. The grounds were nice to walk around.

  • I cannot say enough wonderful things about this beautiful place. I feel blessed that I live close enough to visit regularly. It's a gorgeous landscape, rich in history... and free to explore the grounds all year round... There is a fee to go inside the actual home / towers --- but the grounds are vast and beautiful enough to make a day of it. I also love that they are dog friendly. Just a very special place.
  • Our tour guide did an excellent job giving us the background of the place , shared stories of the family , and shared his personal story on how he became Grey Towers tour guide. Very well spoken and knowledgeable about the times the estate was built. As a history major in University his thesis was on the estate. I recommend this tour not only because of it architectural significance but to also learn about trees.
