Ed R. Levin County Park is the largest park in Milpitas, California. It is run by the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department and is located in the chaparral foothills of Diablo Range east of the Santa Clara Valley. Monument Peak can be accessed through trails in the park. The park's recreational facilities include a hang gliding and paragliding area, a dog park, and horseback riding areas. Ed R. Levin County Park has two lakes, Sandy Wool Lake and Spring Valley Pond. Both of them are reservoirs which collect runoff water from the hills to the east. It is home to some of the East Bay Walls.

  • So close to the city, but gives the feeling of being out in the wilderness. Excellent day use only part with in easy reach of Milpitas, San Jose or Fremont  more »
  • It's a nice park with a nice lake to picnic beside. It has a beautiful view of the hills. Just down the street is a second part of the park with another lovely little lake. A nice place to go!  more »

  • Excellent location for picnic, hiking and fishing. Witness nature and wildlife such as birds, coyotes and lizards, just a few minutes from Milpitas. Several great trails nearby. There are two ranches offering horse riding, close to the park. Be aware that there's no cellphone coverage.
  • Hiking at Ed Levin is some of the best in the area. Ed Levin offers great views on trails without the congestion like neighboring Mission Peak. My preferred route is Ed Levin to Monument Peak to Mission Peak and back to Ed Levin. I recommend dressing for different types of weather all year round AND to bring plenty of water. Much of the trail is exposed during summer, and the wind patterns change as you climb. This is a popular hang gliding area, so the wind on some days can be biting if you're not prepared.
