Ed R. Levin County Park is the largest park in Milpitas, California. It is run by the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department and is located in the chaparral foothills of Diablo Range east of the Santa Clara Valley. Monument Peak can be accessed through trails in the park. The park's recreational facilities include a hang gliding and paragliding area, a dog park, and horseback riding areas.

Ed R. Levin County Park has two lakes, Sandy Wool Lake and Spring Valley Pond. Both of them are reservoirs which collect runoff water from the hills to the east. It is home to some of the East Bay Walls.

The park is named after open space advocate and Santa Clara County 3rd District Supervisor Edgar R. Levin (1908-1965).

  • Great park to access trails to Monument peak and Mission peak. Not too crowded. There is some shade, but not nearly enough during the summer months, do wear sun protection. Bring lots of water. The views are amazing. The weather may change rapidly. It is always windy at the top, so bring a light jacket or two.
  • We went to the park in February 2022. Such a great afternoon spent there! After paying $6 parking fee, we see multiple parking lots with spaces available. There are horses walking along the paved and unpaved trails, turns out horseback riding is available in the park, how exciting! We didn't get to ride the horses though due to late arrival... The trails are well maintained, not crowded at all. There are slopes here and there along the trails, but in a pleasant way so 4 year old can handle without any problems. The green hill view with colorful wild flowers and animals is just spectacular. We saw deers, horses, cows, squirrels, ducks and some other birds we don't know the names. You can even feed the horses as some are really friendly to people.
