National Butterfly Center, Mission

Great place to visit for butterflies, birds, and native plants. Very well-stocked gift shop staffed by a exceptionally friendly and helpful person. Restrooms at the gift shop. Easy (flat) walking/hiking trails with benches every so often. Some trails are sunny, whereas other trails are shaded by trees. Free parking.

This is a tiny gem, they allow you to bring a lunch and have a few palapas in place to sit and eat (may have to clean of some bird droppings 1st) so we sat and had our lunch. There's a big-O tortoise (may have to really look for him to see him), gardens, and the butterfly house....all in all a great place to spend a good few hours! Bring mosquito spray to put on before going in the back, but don't worry if you forget because the sell some there, I got the organic one made of essential oils (cost the same) which smells great and it doesn't leave you all sticky!
