Create an itinerary including Corn Palace
Russian/Moorish-styled Corn Palace, decorated with murals and designs from corn and other grains, features a new design every year. New murals are designed annually out of more than 275,000 ears of corn to cover the outside of the building. This tradition began in 1892, when town officials decided to showcase crops in an effort to get pioneers to realize the potential of the soil so they would settle in the area. Today, the palace is a multipurpose building, hosting numerous community events and exhibits. You can see pictures from the previous years' happenings. • Enjoyable visit! The outside is really cool, the inside has pictures of the past themes, which we enjoyed, but I don't know that I would need to go out of my way to see the inside again. The popcorn balls were yummy! It is nice that it is a free museum! If you are looking for something to do in this area, it is a fun stop.
  • This place was sort of a life saver we were tired from driving all day so we decided to stop and check the corn palace out, fyi it's free to go in and check things out. Tons to see! Cool gift shop, stuff for the kids to do and its so interesting all the history that's in that building and quite frankly impressive as to the murals they've done on the side of the building out of corn! Would definitely go back again so much fun and a great way to get out and stretch your legs.
