  • Great for mountain biking or dirt bikes. Practice loop takes you through anything you can expect in the main trail. We went in mid-June and unless you're on the trail early it's too hot to ride for long.
  • Downhills*(100% fun)+uphills*(impossible)=1/2 biking 1/2 hiking Be ready to hike, a lot. At least for me it was. Downhills are technical but mostly all doable. I was able to do about half of the climbs but they are a b-word. The other half is hiking which is about a fifth of the whole trail. The uphills heading back to the trailhead you're cursing every climb. It took me about 3 hours to do it and I don't recommend it being the first ride of the season. I should've gotten my bike legs prior to this. I went around 1pm last week of April and the weather was perfect but I still managed to finish my camelback and a bike bottle. Not sure how anyone can do it in the summer and survive. I did the recommend route which I can imagine is easier. Have fun and good luck.
