  • Very cool experience! I live in Nassau county so it was about a 2 hour drive each way to get out to the lighthouse. There is some very cool history behind this particular lighthouse. Commissioned by George Washington, oldest active lighthouse in NY, and 4th oldest active lighthouse is the country. The museum has a lot of information packed into the little building as well. The climb to the top of the lighthouse is about 137 steps, but the views are spectacular, so worth the climb. The one thing I wish they would change is to allow visitors to walk around the entire outside walkway of the lighthouse to allow for a better 360° view. It costs $8 to park at the nearby lot, and it is $13 per adult for the ticket (seniors and children are cheaper, and I think military is free but if not definitely discounted). Hope you enjoy.
  • A must see Historical Landmark. I love light houses. This was an amazing surprise and a moment that i will always treasure. Prepare for long drive so bring snacks and not too much juice for the kiddos. Only one long road in and out. However well worth the trip. Beautiful photo taking places.
