Beartown State Forest is a publicly owned forest with recreational features located in the towns of Great Barrington, Monterey, Lee, and Tyringham, Massachusetts. The state forest's more than 10,000 acres (4,000 ha) include 198 acres (80 ha) of recreational parkland. It is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Benedict Pond trail is fun and beautiful, beach and bathhouse is clean and water is super clear. Hiked the pond loop and vista trail in one afternoon, absolutely going back more »

Great little place. Lovely lake with a 1.7 mile hiking trail going around the lake. Nice swim area and plenty of picnic tables. more »

I went to Beartown to give their mountain biking trails a try. Most of the mountain seems to have old dirt roads(double track). I enjoyed the Beartown Loop which is comprised of the Beartown Trail(off of the lower Wildcat Trail), and on the way back down, the Mount Wilcox Trail. I will return for more exploration and hopefully I'll have more to add, but it seemed to me that the trail up was fairly straightforward and "up", and the trail down was pretty much "down". I tend to like more winding, technical sections.

Very clean and kind staff. The guy who runs it helped me get a one night stay when they were only allowing two might stays. It was easy, he was very helpful and worked quickly to make it happen. Definitely will be going back!!
