Coast Guard Pier, Monterey

I use to go fishing off this pier with my dad when I was little, nearly 40 years ago. It was quite rustic back then and the scenery was of run down warehouses. Die hard scuba divers launched out here. Now, aesthetically, it's more inviting for tourists and family. Though a new upscale restaurant opened up, it still has a feel of the old fishing and diving ambiance. It's a great place to take leisurely stroll and look out to the bay.

This are was beautiful in March. The flowers were well bloomed and the weather was wonderful. It was very cool to check out the Coastguard Pier, where fishing and diving in calm seaweed forests is allowed. The walk around the area was very serene. We went down to the tide pools and found a lot of seaglass along the Rocky shores. The seals were basking in the sun on the larger rocks and allowed for awesome pictures. Very enjoyable area. I went to see Salvador Dali painting and ended up taking a very relaxing hike around the beach side.
