  • Super fun trail running. A lot of quick ups and downs. There aren't a ton of miles to be had here but with a couple loops you can have a great run. Definitely worth the two hour drive in Saturday morning traffic.
  • 8-1/2 miles of hiking trails cover terrain from pine forest to chaparral and offer views of Monterey, Seaside, and the bay as well as Carmel Valley. Jack's Peak itself is a short walk uphill from one of two parking areas, but most of the hikes start high and descend as much as 600 feet in elevation, so be prepared to hike uphill on your way back to your car. The picnic areas are beautiful, and the bathrooms have plumbing and sinks - not pit toilets. I often see large tiger swallowtail butterflies here in early summer; the males patrol canyons and hilltops for females. Jack's Peak is a beautiful place for a picnic, hike, or short stroll.
