Bay Theatre, Morro Bay

Admission is $8.00 per person. Doors open 30 minutes before first showtime.

The Bay Theatre has been family owned and operated since 1975. The building was constructed in the early 1940's as a single screen motion picture theatre. The Jannopoulos family has maintained the historical integrity and charm of the building while pursuing their efforts to maintain and improve the physical and technical aspects of this landmark.

The most recent improvement has been the installation of a state of the art digital projection and sound system. We are proud to be the beneficiaries of Ultra Stereo of San Luis Obispo's generosity, who donated to us, a digital sound processor and an assisted listening system, which includes not only sound amplification but also, closed captioning and visual narration capabilities.

  • This is a sweet place to catch a flick. Old fashioned, large stain style theater with a big screen. The selections lean towards independent films, which I enjoy, and the tickets are only $8 for adults. They have real butter for the popcorn. Walking distance, affordable, and good movies. Perfect.
  • Pros: + ONE AND ONLY theatre in Morro Bay. It's our only option, and we're not complaining! + This place is a quaint neighborhood GEM! + Large theatre with TONS of seating + Amazing price at $8 a ticket. You can't beat that! + Seats are comfortable, aisles are wide, the sound system is good, and the screen is clear. + Friendly, welcoming, and lovely staff + The place is beautifully kept and maintained. Everything is in tip top condition and very clean. + Nice concession with the essentials -- popcorn, candy, soda, etc. (Hot dogs would make my dream come true here! Just saying...) Cons: - Not many showtimes -- twice a day @ 4:45pm & 7:00pm - One screen theatre that only plays one movie so you have to wait a couple of weeks for a new movie to show.
