Fields of the Wood, Murphy

#2 of 26 in Things to do in Murphy
Religious Site · Hidden Gem · Landmark
View the world's largest set of the Ten Commandments at Fields of the Wood, a Bible-based park in the Smoky Mountains. Step into the stories of the Bible and hike through this natural setting while viewing the All Nations cross, prayer mountain chapel, and a recreated tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, where Jesus was laid after his death. A long staircase ascends the hillside where the famous commandments are etched, so you can see the record-breaker up close. Driving to the top is also an option. • The beauty of nature is seen in its simplicity. When you smell the fresh pines, hear the wind rustling through the trees and meditate on Psalms 34:8 "O taste and see that the Lord is good! Happy is the man who takes refuge in him!" You can appreciate this wonderful place. A must see.
  • Peaceful, quiet place to contemplate God's glory. These folks have put a lot of work into this location. The last visit a year ago reflects a decline in the overall appearance of the place. It is a project of the church of God religion so be aware of the influence.
