In 1968, the Trefethen family purchased seven farms surrounding a magnificent, but run-down, 19th-century winery in southern Napa Valley and created Trefethen Family Vineyards. At the time, there were fewer than 30 working wineries in the Napa Valley. True to the family’s original vision of creating a classic wine estate, they have never purchased outside grapes. Instead, they take extraordinary care of their two sustainably farmed estate vineyards in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. Today, after 50 years, the Trefethen family’s third generation, Lorenzo and Hailey, assist their parents in continuing the family tradition of passion for the land, its people and the art of crafting exceptional Napa Valley wines.Plan to see Trefethen Family Vineyards and other attractions that appeal to you using our Napa route planning app.
Trefethen Family Vineyards reviews
This is always a great winery trip even during the virus. We are club members so we really enjoy hearing the latest on the wines. We had a great tasting with a great educator but I have misplaced his.... more »
Our visit to Trefethen was an absolute treat! My friend and I visited the property during Napa's COVID-19 "re-open phase" in early June. The staff at Trefethen adapted to the many, and necessary... more »
This winery is on Oak Knoll Av and is lucky to be in the third generation of winemakers. The property is all divided into grape types and identified by the year of planting, the oldest vineyards at this time are older than me! It was planted in 1977. For single people, you don't need to schedule, but group scheduling is recommended. Minors are not allowed on the premises. Tastings are based on 5 wines, you can choose whether you want the strongest or the softest, the prices start at 25 dollars. The tasting space is upstairs where access is by stairs. The attendants are very friendly and made me very comfortable. At the bar, the kind attendant Fabian explained to me about every wine, from grape type to barrel time, his favorite blend is O.K.D Three. They accept credit card. Recommend!
Glorious experience with amazing wine selections that were all delicious!! We left with two bottles on our first stop of the day. The building is over 100 years old and completely restored after an earthquake a few years ago. Very elegant, warm, and inviting. Everyone was super friendly from beginning to end. A little off the road but so very well worth the beautiful drive through their vineyard to the tasting room!
