Art Museum · Garden
Take in views of the Tennessee hills and explore the original gardens designed by Bryant Fleming at Cheekwood. The botanical gardens span over 22 hectares (55 acres) and showcase a diverse selection of styles and periods of garden design. In the herb study garden, you can touch, smell, and learn about plants and their culinary or medicinal uses. The site also features a Georgian-style mansion built in 1929 that now houses a museum of art. The museum includes a large collection of American and contemporary paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts. Grab something to eat at the Pineapple Room restaurant, which features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the grounds. • The scenery is beautiful. The gardens are clean with great upkeep. So many beautiful colors and the pumpkin houses are adorable. I especially enjoyed the herb garden. The thyme and rosemary scents made me hungry. :-) I also noticed all kinds of work going on as they updated garden areas and strung lights to prepare for Christmas displays. It makes me want to come back to visit one day soon, and I truly appreciate the military discount. Oh and it's a great way to get steps in.
  • Absolutely always love beautiful Cheekwood, anytime of year. Walk the grounds, tour the home, see the trains, pumpkin cottages, or tulips. I will be glad when the new construction is done, we've missed out on the nature trails twice now. I will be really excited when it is finished. Grab your picnic basket, or something at the cafe.
