Frist Art Museum, housed inside one of Nashville’s great historic landmarks--the former main post office, opened in April 2001, and since that time has hosted a spectacular array of art from the region and from around the world. The mission of the museum is to present and originate high-quality exhibitions with related educational programs and community outreach activities.Unlike other traditional museums, this one has become a magnet for Nashville’s rapidly expanding visual arts scene. With an exhibitions schedule that has new art flowing through the art deco building every 6 to 8 weeks, no matter how often you visit, there is always something new and exciting to see in the spacious galleries. Find the current exhibitions on the website. The museum was conceived as a family-friendly place and one of the most popular locations in the center is the innovative Martin ArtQuest Gallery. It’s a colorful space alive with the sounds of learning through making art, suitable for people of all ages. Frist Art Museum is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.

I really loved it. The building is an old postal office and it is gorgeous. The expositions were great. A nice selection with good explanation and a free audioguide. The top floor has interactive activities geared towards children, but also fun for adults to do. Highly recommended, a nice 2-3 hour visit.

Loving all things Art Deco, I couldn't pass this opportunity up. The exhibition did not disappoint! Plus we took the time to view a collection of 600 plus year old illuminated manuscripts-not too shabby for a Sunday afternoon! Just beware of the auto parking attendant. It refused to acknowledge its own ticket and cost a handsome extra fee!
