Frist Art Museum, housed inside one of Nashville’s great historic landmarks--the former main post office, opened in April 2001, and since that time has hosted a spectacular array of art from the region and from around the world. The mission of the museum is to present and originate high-quality exhibitions with related educational programs and community outreach activities.Unlike other traditional museums, this one has become a magnet for Nashville’s rapidly expanding visual arts scene. With an exhibitions schedule that has new art flowing through the art deco building every 6 to 8 weeks, no matter how often you visit, there is always something new and exciting to see in the spacious galleries. Find the current exhibitions on the website. The museum was conceived as a family-friendly place and one of the most popular locations in the center is the innovative Martin ArtQuest Gallery. It’s a colorful space alive with the sounds of learning through making art, suitable for people of all ages. Frist Art Museum is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.
Frist Art Museum reviews
As others have mentioned, the actual art museum isn't that large. I enjoyed the building more than the museum! more »
Gray art museum. Good display of various art and what looks to be a good slate of exhibits coming through. The art museum being converted from the old post office made for an interibuilding as well more »
Lucy, brought the past to life. Take the time and enjoy the tour. Look around at the history. Read everything you see. Listen to those around you offering there stories of times gone by. Lucy has a way of bringing it all together, and She has a lovely voice closing the tour with a ballot.
A true gem of the city, this place is exquisite. Packed with an abundance of art history, one visit isn't enough to take it all in. With several affordable options for memberships it's definitely a must have for local residence and travelers alike. Looking forward to bringing the whole family back, again and again. The staff was courteous and friendly. The accommodations seemed just right for any group of visitors.
