The Natural Bridge formation is 60 ft (18.3 m) high, 148 feet (45 m) long, and composed of sandstone and iron ore.
This bridge is the longest natural bridge east of the Rocky Mountains in North America.
Downhill from the natural bridge is an outcropping of rock, presenting the image of a large American Indian head, in the right profile view, similar to that of an old American Indian Head nickel (see photo). The stone image is just over 15 feet (4.6 m) high.
As of 2015, admission cost $3.50 for adults. Because of insurance concerns, visitors are not allowed to walk over the bridge, but instead, they view it while walking underneath.
The park is open from 8:00 A.M. until sunset seven days a week.
Natural Bridge Park reviews
The whole experience was great. The bridge itself was very impressive. There's a path you can hike after seeing the bridge which is more for scenery....not really a hike. There is a cost, but it's... more »
The natural bridge is huge and so awesome. We thought we would be able to hike for awhile here but this is not really a hiking destination. The loop isn’t even a mile. Still, pretty and peaceful. I... more »
Wow. This place is beautiful. The bridge itself is only 100 yards from the parking lot and is easy to access on the trails provided. Very little climbing. They have a Wonderful gift shop with quite the collection of souvenirs. There is also adequate availability of water for all. I would have liked to stay a little longer to get my $3.50 worth of pictures, but I was solo and saw as much as I could in 20 minutes. Which was the whole place. Great place to stop and eat a picnic lunch with the Family when passing through. They have picnic tables available and public restrooms. Really a cool place to stop and appreciate Our Lord's doing and get some Family photos for the scrapbook. I'm glad I stopped. Very friendly service as always in Alabama.
I truly appreciate the owners of the private property sharing the glorious wonder of the Natural Bridge. It's stunning. No pictures or brochures can truly capture it's beauty. It's an easy walk down the path. A mile long walk in the woods is also offered. Lovely and shady on a very hot day.
