Must see · State Park · Nature / Park
Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park is a 167-acre (68 ha) public recreation area offering trails and picnicking located in Nelson Township, Portage County, Ohio, United States. Within the park are angled rock formations 50 to 60 feet (18 m) high with ground fissures as deep as 60 feet (18 m). It is accessible from U.S. Route 422 and State Route 305 via State Route 282.

The ... rock formations at the Nelson-Kennedy Ledges have become trademarks of the park.... The ... sandstone cliff formations resulted from the forces of erosion—wind, water freezing and thawing—that wore away at the softer rock layers. As these soft layers eroded, large blocks of rock called slump blocks fell away leaving more resistant layers to form ledges above.

  • Absolutely amazing camping at the Quarry. We will be coming back again soon. My wife and I spent the weekend here for our anniversary and will now be making it a tradition. People are very friendly and the scenery is absolutely stunning. We also did a hike in the Ledges which is always great. I do wish the Quarry had non event season passes because I would purchase in a heartbeat. Thanks for the amazing experience.
  • Great place to spend a few hours hiking around. Several trails with different levels of difficulty to choose from. My son really enjoyed climbing on and under all the different rocks. One trail has you do some climbing and crawling. The waterfall is worth the extra effort to get to. With some extra climbing you can get behind it. For little kids... there are allot of cliffs... but there is plenty for them to crawl on without going to the top.
