Comal River, New Braunfels

4.3
#2 of 9 in Parks in New Braunfels
Perfect your rafting or kayaking skills on Comal River, one of the shortest navigable rivers in the world. Although this river runs for just 4 km (2.5 mi), it maintains a constant and very comfortable temperature of about 22 C (72 F), making it an ideal location for scuba divers and for the fountain darter--a species of fish in danger of extinction. The river features a tube chute and several wide and gentle stretches, making it popular with families with small kids learning to swim and snorkel. There are limited tourist facilities on the river, so be sure to bring your own gear and supplies. Plan your visit to Comal River and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our New Braunfels sightseeing planner.

  • If you are looking for a smoother float, the Comal river is the way to go. There are no rapids. There are 2 chutes, which are exciting to ride down, but everything else is super smooth and relaxing. O...  more »
  • Five of us (all adults) went yesterday and “toobed” the river and had the BEST time! It was a hot day and the water was so cool and clear (spring fed)! Definitely would do it again!  more »

  • The comal river is named the shortest longest river on Google of you look it up.. There are 3-4 chutes on the river.. You are able to BBQ off the river at local condos.. And you're able bring your drinks onto the river and enjoy the scenery of deer and ducks. There are also different tubing companies in surrounding areas to help you choose what options are best for you. I live in Houston so this is the closet peaceful getaway ever. I'll see y'all again Summer 2019❤️😘
  • Well I actually love coming here, during the summer it is super packed. They charge for like literally everything come prepared. You have to pay parking, to picnic, for entrance to , to get in the water, to use your own tubes. It's it got a little over hand. But it's supervised a lot better than it has been over the years.
