East Rock Park, New Haven

East Rock Park is all cliff to the south and west with the Mill River flowing below the cliffs with nature trails and foot bridges along the way. If you want to run or bike, there are closed, paved roads curving through the park. Hiking is surprisingly AWESOME here. There are four different high points and many of them have stunning views (see pics of sunrise hike from Nov 2022). The trails are moderate but there are some challenging parts too! The Eli Whitney Museum is on the west side of the park and there are good trailheads there. Lots of parking options and you can drive to the top in the summer for a picnic.

Super awesome park with great hikes! I took advantage of the unseasonably warm fall days to take my pup up for a hike. I did the ‘4 peaks’ hike and it didn’t disappoint! Great views at all the peaks and it was more challenging than expected!! I would absolutely come back to hike this park again!
