  • This was an unexpected gem of a museum. I learned a lot about the history of the area. The staff was nice and professional and answered all of my questions. The exhibits were informative.

  • For those interested in the history of the Southern Louisiana area, this is a rewarding experience, gives a good overview of all the facets of sugar cane, salt mining, Cajun Culture, food, and music. One can then get more in depth exposure by going to the Tabasco Factory, Avery Island, Jefferson Island, Konrico Rice Factory, Jennerette Sugar Cane Museum. Just down the street is Victors Cafe, highly recommend for a hole in the wall cafeteria, really good shrimp and grits. Also, the Pie Bar is just a few blocks away and definitely worth a visit for pie and coffee. The director was manning the front desk when we were there and she was uber friendly, lovely woman. The Shadow Teche Museum is closed for renovation at the present time.
  • I found it interesting, interactive and fun.
