Colonial Downs is a racetrack located in New Kent County, Virginia adjacent to Interstate 64, halfway between Richmond and Williamsburg. The track conducted Thoroughbred flat racing and Standardbred harness racing between 1997 and 2014, and reopened for thoroughbreds in 2019. It is owned by the Colonial Downs Group, a subsidiary of Peninsula Pacific Entertainment.
On February 22, 2022, Churchill Downs Incorporated announced an agreement to acquire nearly all assets of Peninsula Pacific Entertainment, including Colonial Downs. The nearly $2.5 billion transaction is expected to close by the end of 2022, subject to regulatory approvals.

  • Great place to visit. Had dinner at the burger bar and it was well organized and staff is friendly. Next trip back is to gamble. Pretty crowded but plenty of machines to play on.
  • Everyone was so nice and they had drinks available and a smoking area. I saw employees diligently cleaning machines and enforcing the mask policy so it made me comfortable to play at this location.
